I liked the game guess the baby food. It’s fun. It’s all about having a laugh. We also played guess the chocolate bar.

I hate the string around the belly game. This is really unflattering to the mum-to-be when she sees the huge long string about how wide everyone thinks she is.

One thing my cousin did was get everyone to write a message to the baby and they sealed it up and I think read them all when bub turned 1. I thought that was awesome. *****

Hated the games but my guests enjoyed them, key thing don’t have too many or people get sick of them. A friend did guest the song and all the titles had “baby” in the titles I enjoyed that one…..

I organised my sis in law baby shower. We played Pin the egg on the sperm. When you arrived you chose an ‘egg’ to place in the uterus. (Each egg had a number, so we knew whose egg was who) Once everyone arrived my sis in Law was blindfolded and given the egg to put in the uterus. Closes sperm to where she placed the egg won a prize, which happened to be my 89 year old grandmother! Was a great game to start the party, got everyone laughing.

My friend just recently had a baby shower and I had never laughed so much. 1 was you were given a book and paper and pen, you had to put the book and paper on your forehead and draw a picture of a baby without seeing it, seriously some of the drawings were hilarious arms and legs all over the show, and another one was trying to get a dummy around the table with a straw in each persons mouth and only using the straw to pass it round, no hands, seriously took us ages cause everyone was laughing so hard

Guess the nursery rhymes was one of the most popular at my baby shower as it was cross generational. Questions like “who liked cockle shells?” things like that.

2 games my friends enjoyed at mine were letter if the alphabet names. I knew I was having a girl so I put my friends into teams of 5 and got them to write one girl name for each letter of the alphabet. Each name got 1 point if another team had the same name a point was deducted and you couldn’t chose a name of a person who was at the party. The other game was the waive tails game. You’d ask a question like if the mother craves savoury does this mean big or girl the person with the mist correct wind

I’ve organised a couple of baby showers and the game I love because I love people’s reactions is guess the chocolate bar. Squash a selection of different bars each in a separate nappy. It actually looks like poo in the nappy. I organised a baby shower for my daughters teacher that we held in class with all the kids and this game the kids found hilarious!

My favourite was getting into small groups and having to make a functional maternity bra and undies set out of newspaper. One person in the group models it and they all get voted on. I also enjoyed the belly estimate size using string. Crazy the size people think you are!! I put it in a book which had all other estimates. Really cool keepsake

I played one recently at a shower where the mum to be had to leave the room and then we were given a quiz about what she was wearing, the colour of her shoes, whether she was wearing makeup, that sort of thing. It’s called what was mummy wearing.

We had a miniature baby set into an icecube. All the guests had to guess what time the baby would be born when they arrived. Once the icecube melted and the baby dropped out the baby was “born.” Closest time wins.

Everyone gets given an egg to look after for the whole baby shower as they arrive, it’s their baby, they get to name it, give it a gender, you can even have some felts and they can draw faces etc…they must not leave their egg anywhere unless they ask someone to egg-sit, if they randomly leave then someone can egg-nap it, the person with the most eggs at the end of day is winner….hard boil the eggs, but tell the attendees they are fresh…it so funny, revile at the end…or you could hard boil some and not others, so no one knows what they’ve got. This game created continue laughs at my shower throughout the day…it’s amazing how many pole don’t look after their egg baby’s!

My sister got everyone a baby onesie to draw on with some fabric pens things for the baby or advice for the parents to be they are really cool and as she got a range of sizes I am still using some of them a year after my daughter was born. A great keepsake and very handy. ******

Went to a baby shower where the organiser had put together a prize basket and to enter you bought a pack of nappies or wipes. All the nappies and wipes went to mumma to be and a winner was drawn at the end of the party*****

Shape-o (The tupperware shape thing) Races. Basically a time trial, see who can put all the shapes back in the fastest… gets rather competitive

I made play dough and gave every one a large paper plate and they had to make a baby with the play dough. Some were really creative with nappies and bottles. This was fun and got everyone sharing and talking to one another

Baby Pictionary is good and means people who aren’t really “into” games can be involved. Just write down baby related things (dummy, bassinet, nipple shield etc) on separate bits of paper and supply a pen and A4 paper to each “team” drawer from each team looks at clue then when team guess have to yell out, so you know who has won also awesome for a hens do but with dodgy/naughty things written down (priceless having Nanna draw reverse cowgirl)

I went to a baby shower and everyone had to bring a photograph of themselves as a baby – they were all given to the host and put on a board and then we had to guess who was who. Good way to get to know everyone if you start with this one too.

Get a box of new-born nappies and get everyone at your shower to write you a message on the nappy. They will cheer you up on those late night***

I also hate the chocolate bar/nappy game and anything involving drawing attention to the Mum’s girth. I was pretty sensitive about my baby weight gain by the time I had a baby shower and didn’t really want to focus on that. Just wanted to have a nice time with my friends. My lovely friend who organized my baby shower did a cool game where they had to use my name and my husband’s name (or parts thereof) to come up for a name for the baby. Don’t forget it’s often the Mum-to-be last major social outing with her friends before baby comes so I think making sure it’s a good time for her is the most important thing – that may mean games or no games depending on the Mum to be.

Got people to brainstorm a ‘bucket list’ of must do’s for baby & then made them into a list to give baby when 18. Prize for most interesting/creative/crazy etc. Also we did finish nursery rhyme game & guess the baby photo which were fun & not too tacky

I like the string to guess the women’s belly circumference & the guess the melted choc bar in the nappy games.
