Hard to Start

I witnessed a dear friend go through hell and back with her breastfeeding.  She had a terrible midwife, who wreaked her 1st experience of childbirth and feeding because of her nasty comments and pushy manner.  My friend has since had her second child and because of the kind support (of a different midwife) she successfully breastfed for 12 months!

My experience has been great, currently feeding my fourth baby.

However it’s hard work to start with! I suffered engorgement which can be very painful, ripped nipples etc….however once I pushed through those issues, I’ve never looked back.

I didn’t know anyone who had breastfeed so it was difficult that I had no-one to talk to, if you can find someone to support you, it really helps!

I found that as long as I reminded myself it’s going to get easier that helped too, and before you know it, you’ll sit down one day to feed and there is no discomfort, you no longer need to worry about positioning and you realise you’ve made it.”
