I’m writing this post here, as it is very confusing with the old and new models of the Medela single breast pump parts. The original pump is called Swing and the newer model in 2020 called the Swing Flex. These both have the same motor, but different accessories of connector, breastshield and tube – which are not fully interchangeable. In 2021 Medela released another model of single pump (called the Solo) which has an improved motor with better battery technology and USB yet with the same flex accessories.
I’m going to add pictures and links below to help, (and for me to remember too) so you know which pieces will work with each motor. These link to our store so you can purchase. And of course, if you have any doubt please contact us and we can help you.

Table 1: Swing – original
The original spare parts are in limited supply as the model is discontinued – you can shop the range of original Swing parts in a bundle on our website here. We recommend you upgrade to the Flex technology for the fittings – see the next table below on how to do this.

Original tubing (SOLD OUT) – only this original tube fits in with the “elbow”. See Table 2 below, as you can change to the new tube and will need to get the new Flex Connector also.

Table 2: Swing Flex
The new fittings accessories of flex connector and breastshield, which requires different tubing to connect to the motor. With this new Flex Connector you nolonger require the “valves and membranes” which were needed with the original model so that is a saving. You can shop on our website bundle for Swing Flex parts.

Table 3: Solo – new model of single pump
In 2021 medela released a new motor with improved battery technology. You’ll notice this is white, with yellow buttons and an oval shape. This motor still uses the same flex technology for the accessory items. You can shop on our website for the bundle of Solo pump parts.
