On-the-Go Essentials – What to Pack in Your Day Bag
Summer adventures are calling! Whether you’re heading out for a morning walk, meeting friends for coffee, or spending the afternoon at the park with the whānau, a well-packed day bag can make all the difference between a smooth outing and a bit of chaos.
We know that when you’ve got a pēpi in tow, it’s not just your handbag anymore – it’s your lifeline! So here’s our go-to list of on-the-go essentials to help you feel organised, calm, and ready for anything.
- Nappies and wipes
Always start with the basics. And always pack more than you think you’ll need. Trust us on that one. - Change mat
A portable change mat makes nappy changes easier wherever you are – in the car, the park, or even the café loo. - Spare clothes
Pop in an extra outfit for pēpi (and maybe a clean top for you, too). Summer days can get messy fast – think dribbles, spills, and sand! - Feeding gear
Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, make sure you’ve got what you need. A nursing cover can come in handy if you’d like a bit of privacy, and milk storage bottles or containers keep feeds sorted while you’re out. - Snacks and water
Mums need fuel too! Keep a water bottle and a few easy snacks for yourself – and a treat for any older kids tagging along. We love the Chillmate insulated water bottle for being on the go in summer. - Sun protection
Sunscreen, a sunhat, and a light and large bamboo muslin wrap for shade are must-haves for those bright Kiwi days. - Comfort items
A favourite toy, teether, or blanket can work wonders to keep pēpi happy on the move.
A good nappy bag backpack or messenger bag keeps everything contained, organised and accessible.
We are also big fans of wet bags! IFKYK! Brilliant for a multitude of wet moments.
Heading out with a baby might feel like packing for a weekend away at first – but with the right essentials, you’ll be ready for whatever the day brings.
Enjoy the sunshine, take it slow, and remember: you’re doing amazing, mum. 💛
